The trouble with big-coach Cairns tours
Forty-eight strangers on a bus. A guide talking through a microphone. Six rushed minutes at the lookout, ten at the gorge, then straight back on the road. By the time you finish your coffee at lunch, the group is already lining up for the toilets and heading back to the coach.
You came to see the beauty of Cairns and to experience the place, not just tick it off an itinerary. Most coach tours will show you the sights. They rarely give you the feeling of being there.
You leave with hundreds of photos on your phone, but very little connection to the place you travelled all this way to see.
There is a more personal way to explore tropical North Queensland. Here is how Tropic Tours does it differently.

Day tours from Cairns are built around your group, not the timetable
Every Tropic Tours group runs between 4 and 11 guests, keeping the experience small enough for back roads, spontaneous stops, and a more relaxed pace.
More time at each stop
Less time in transit and queues. You linger where it matters.
A guide who knows the country
More than just showing you the sights, our Wet Tropics-accredited tour guides share the rich stories and local insights that make this region unique.
A flexible itinerary
We provide local knowledge and a well-planned route, without the rigid countdown at every stop.
Cancel up to 48 hours before
Plans change. We offer a full refund for cancellations made up to 48 hours before the tour.

Choose over busy, large groups that lack the depth and information!
Highly recommend Tropic Tours’ small group, immersive tour that gives you time to connect with and explore the rainforest without being rushed and in a crowd- Lexie.
Fabulous and Unique.
The cultural part of the tour was a unique experience with the traditional custodians of
Innisfail and Etty Bay. Such welcoming, sharing people. Also, a gorgeous waterfall and other
interesting areas of the region. – Jenny.
Highly Recommend!
Incredible day – learnt so much about the rainforest from Karlos our super knowledgeable guide. Swimming in Mossman Gorge was magical. Seeing crocodiles in their natural habitat along the Daintree River was amazing. Small group with loads of time to see and do everything we wanted. – Lyn.
Tropic Tours Absolute must-do.
An absolute must-do when visiting the Cairns region. Caters for smaller numbers of tourists, making the experience more relaxed and personal, you get to know each person on the trip. Simon is a walking, talking encyclopedia; he will go out of his way to make the tour an enjoyable, memorable day out. Highly recommend doing one or more of their fantastic tours. – Lauren
Amazing Tropic Tours!
What an awesome day! Simon has a wealth of knowledge about the history of Mossman Gorge, Daintree & Indigenous connection to their country. If you want a personalised tour in a small group, go with Tropic Tours. This has been one of my dreams to walk through Daintree. The walk we did was right in the Daintree, experiencing all the wonders of biodiversity. – Stella.
